EAA Airventure Oshkosh Day 6

It is our final full day at Airventure. It has been an incredible week, and I am quite sad that once again this week-long aviation celebration is ending.
I decided to visit Sling Aircraft first today at their display area aptly named Sling Island. I met briefly with James Pittman and Linda Sollars as they were busy conducting an oil change on Linda's Sling HW, the same aircraft she flew from Johannesburg to Oshkosh. The Sling display features the popular Sling TSI, Sling HW and the Sling LSA. The finishes on the luxurious models are simply stunning. It is no surprise because Sling is the first choice for many a new aircraft owner.
 
Wisconsin summer brought the temperature today. With highs in the 30's the heat was truly on! The afternoon show started with a paradrop and the American and Canadian national anthems.
 
Michael Goulian brings high performance aerobatics to any airshow; his Saturday routine tested his and the endurance of his German built Extra.
The Red Bull Airforce always brings an action-packed show to any day at Airventure! Fun, extreme and exhilarating all on a sunny Saturday afternoon in Wisconsin.
There was another instalment of the warbird show which included many a former military plane. Appreciation rung out in the crowd for these aircraft and the veterans that operated them.
Rob Holland coined a phrase, “Fly good, don't suck.” I can say without fear that Rob's performance on Saturday did not disappoint in any way.
I recently watched a short documentary about Kyle Franklin and his modified Cub. The amount of effort made to ensure that this aircraft can consistently perform this demanding comedy act is astounding. He delivered another excellent performance.
After a long, expensive, and comprehensive restoration, the P47 made its' first appearance at EAA Airventure last year. Bernie Vasquez again demonstrated its' capabilities.
The Super Pinto light trainer jet delivered another spirited performance at the hands of David Martin.
Some more jet noise followed courtesy of the United States Airforce Viper Demo team. The agility of the F16 impresses with tight turns and lots of afterburner action
The Royal Canadian Airforce Victory flight flew its F18 Hornet together with a Spitfire, Hurricane and Mustang.
A Saturday afternoon treat was the Canadian Snowbirds with their CT-114 aircraft. Poised perfectly against the blue skies!
After a short break it was time for the evening airshow. A fireworks, drone, and aerobatics spectacle!
What a great day this was to close off Airventure for us as we depart for South Africa tomorrow. Memories were certainly made, and a lot of fun was had!
