ATNS Aviation Training Academy Rated Tops - February 2012

On Monday 20 February 2012 the Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS) Company of South Africa's Aviation Training Academy (ATA) has been selected and honoured with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) 2011 Worldwide Top Regional Training Partner (RTP) Award.
This prestigious award, which includes an official recognition certificate and an engraved plaque, was presented to ATNS CEO, Mr Patrick Dlamini by the IATA's Regional Vice President for Africa, Mr Michael Higgins.
Since April 2000, the ATA has proudly trained more than 9000 international and local delegates. Various training programs are offered to prepare graduates for a successful professional career in Air Traffic Services and Engineering Support.
Air Traffic and Navigation Services (ATNS) Company of South Africa's Aviation Training Academy (ATA) puts people and safety first - by rigorously training and upgrading safety knowledge and skills, and is committed to upholding aviation safety standards, legislation and practices.
One of the guest speakers, Albert Taylor, Director of Air Traffic Services in Ghana commended ATNS and ATA for their commitment and positive contribution to the industry. However, Mr Taylor also made reference to the ATNS failure of incorporating or collaborating with universities and other tertiary education institutions to further aviation training.
Kefilwe Molubi, an ATA graduate provided a testimony on here experiences during her training and the advantages it provides once graduates move into the aviation industry. Kefilwe started her aviation career in the South African Air Force from where she joined Nationwide before enrolling with ATA. In her current position with SA Express, Kefilwe is reaping the rewards of her ATA qualification.
Although Dawie Kotze's name was mentioned during some presentations, he did not address the audience. This was rather unfortunate as it seems as if Dawie's marketing strategy was the key to the ATNS & ATA success. As the manager of training support and administration, Dawie explained in an interview after the ceremony that it was their strategy to partner with IATA that significantly changed their fortunes. Their strategy to target the market on management level also proved to be successful in introducing the industry to their curriculum and educational value.
The six foundation programs ATA currently offer includes Air Traffic & Navigation services, Civil Aviation Authority, Security, Safety, Project Management and Airline Management. Instructors are experts of the industry and ATA ensures that their administrative backend produce world-class instructors with real world experience for every certification or diploma they offer.
