Oshkosh 2016-Day Four- Museum and Air show

Video summary

Day four and the rain started in the early morning hours and then briefly stopped until, as fate would have it, we had to be in the ditches (a restricted area between the taxiway and runway) for our photography session during the air show.

Before braving the cold and rain though we decided to do a quick visit to the museum. I have visited the museum more than eight times and each time I am still amazed by the quality and variety of the exhibits. Obviously the exhibits are skewed towards the history of the homebuilder's movement and the experimental aircraft category.

Back to the ditch we were all looking forward to the 100th anniversary of Coast Guard aviation. Unfortunately, perhaps because of the weather, sole coast guard assets that were displayed were a Sikorsky MH65D and Eurocopter TH65D that did a circuit or two and then demonstrated a rope descent by rescue swimmers.

If the Coast Guard disappointed, the Warbirds more than made up for it.

Today was also the 30th anniversary celebrations of the Vans RV6 and various other RV types were also displayed.

Aerobatics are always one of the star attractions at any show and it is no exception at Oshkosh.
