Air navigation is achieved by the provision of integrated Communication, Navigation, Surveillance and Air Traffic Management (ATM) activities.
The annual SADC VSAT and NAFISAT meetings are primarily aimed at achieving the medium-to-long term objectives - that of a homogeneous airspace structure, attaining the definitive African sky seamless airspace that is efficient and safe, and ultimately, creating an environment conducive for more usage of new technologies.
The NAFISAT and the SADC Supervisory Board meetings are scheduled to take place on 18 to 20th March 2014 in Nairobi, Kenya and in Zambia from 23rd to 25th March 2014, respectively.
Regional Cooperation between Civil Aviation Authorities and Air Navigation Services Providers has resulted in the streamlining and harmonizing of Air Navigation Regulations, which are safety oriented. Resultantly, various States have given more latitude to their own entities with legal, administrative and financial autonomy to enable them to have independence in the implementation of aviation activities.
Harmonization of airspace organization and management facilitates seamless handling of flights along optimum flight trajectories from gate to gate without undue restriction or delay. This can and will be achieved through the application of the said regulations and safety protocols.
In realizing the African vision of a single sky, human resources is the main factor whilst the recruitment of the next generation of experts who will be able to cope with the fast changing technology is now being implemented by Aviation Academies, including our own Aviation Training Academy (ATA).
The SADC VSAT Network has been operational since 1998 and has eliminated all communication deficiencies in the SADC region. This network is fulfilling the region's communication requirements in terms of the ICAO Africa/Indian Ocean (AFI) plan.
The technologically-advanced SADC VSAT II network became operational on 1 December 2007.
The SADC VSAT II network covers 15 Southern and Central African states with links to Accra and Dakar, whilst the North East African Satellite (NAFISAT) network covers 13 countries in East and North African states.
An averaged 99,9% Service Level Availability for these two regional satellite networks has been achieved in the last three quarters of 2013.
A single African sky is a common vision shared by most if not all African ANSPs.

Airbus President for Latin America and the Caribbean, Rafael Alonso said he was very happy to participate again FIDAE. Having participated in this show for almost two decades, Airbus is pleased to announce that for the first time the aircraft will be on display every day, including the weekend, which is open to the public. "
The Executive Director of FIDAE, Wing Commander (A) José Ignacio Nogueira, who welcomed the crew of the aircraft, said it was an honour to again have the A380 at FIDAE. He further stated that he is sure that the exhibition will be of great benefit to all the exhibitors and that they have prepared a great variety of activities that beside the visit of the A380 included the Jet-Man and static displays, among other attractions.

Sebastián "Ardilla" Alvarez will perform a new acrobatic jump at FIDAE 2014. Equipped with a wingsuit and a parachute he will be challenging the laws of gravity. Sebastián already is a You Tube sensation, his videos of jumps between two buildings in Concon and landing in a public road having gone viral.
Álvarez has been instrumental in popularizing the wingsuit in Chile. At FIDAE 2014, he will be present in the aerial show on weekend as well as during the days in which the fair will be open to the general public.

Yves Rossi the "Jetman" will be among the confirmed attractions of FIDAE 2014. The International Air and Space Show will take place from March 29 th to March 30 th, 2014. Rossi is the first and only man in the aviation history who has managed to fly in an Ala Jet, fulfilling his dream to do it in a natural way, without the need of an aircraft.
After ten years of development and fifteen of using a prototype, the former Swiss Air Force pilot is now able to fly without mechanical controls or similar devices resembling the flight of a bird that uses its own body to fly. He only has an altimeter and activates a little gas pedal to perform a unique experience at the world level.
The size of the "Jetman" wing is two meters and also weighs 55 kg. The device has a complete fuel charge which holds a flight range of 10 minutes. Therefore he can reach average speeds of 200 km/h, 180 km/h uphill and 300 km/h downhill.
During 2008, in the Swiss Alps, he performed his first official flight. Since then, he has made formation flights and aerobatics shows all over the world. He also has flown in places like the Grand Canyon, Rio de Janeiro, and now he will be present in Chile for the first time.
"Jetman" Show will be one of the additional attractions of FIDAE 2014. The fair will be oriented to general public from March 29th - 30th so attendees and their families will enjoy an aerial and static show of international standards.

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Russian Air Force Commander Lt. Gen. Viktor Bondarev, Khabarovsk Territory Governor Vyacheslav Shport, President of the United Aircraft Corporation Mikhail Pogosyan and top executives of the Sukhoi Company attended a solemn ceremony of aircraft transfer at the Sukhoi Company's branch, Y.A.Gagarin Komsomolsk-on-Amur aircraft plant, where these machines are produced.

Speaking at the ceremony, Defence Minister stressed that the latest multi-purpose Su-35S fighter outperforms foreign aircraft in its class, and provides a platform for creating a perspective aviation complex of the 5th generation. Sergei Shoigu thanked the designers, engineers and workers, as well as test pilots, who took part in development and production of these fighters. The Defence Minister presented awards of the Ministry of Defence to the test pilots, representatives of the military supplies acceptance office and factory workers. Then combat pilots demonstrated flying capabilities of Su-35S, performing various stunts. Guests also visited manufacturing units of the plant where Su-35S, Su-30M2 and Su-27SM3 combat aircraft are assembled.

The aircraft (MNS 95038) was rolled out from SuperJet International's hangar in Venice (Italy) and took off from Venice Marco Polo airport for the ferry flight to Interjet facilities in Toluca (Mexico). During its ferry flight, the aircraft stopped in Keflyavik (Iceland) and Bangor (Maine, USA).

The five SSJ100s in service with Interjet are confirming an excellent performance with over 99% dispatch reliability and an average daily utilization of 9 flight hours, through 9 destinations in Mexico (from Mexico City to Torreon, Aguascalientes, Campeche, Minatitlan, Manzanillo, Zacatecas, Mazatlan, La Paz and Reynosa).
"This new aircraft will provide the Mexican business and tourism industries with a boost in terms of competitiveness - says Mr. Jose Louis Garza, Chief Executive Officer of Interjet - Nevertheless, this new entry in the Interjet fleet will contribute to the growth of the economy in the country, creating new jobs in the states part of Interjet network".

So far the aircraft in service with Interjet have accumulated almost 4.000 flight hours, as part of a total of over 40.000 flight hours accumulated by all the SSJ100 aircraft in service worldwide.
In the meantime the seventh aircraft is currently under completion at SuperJet International's plant in Italy and is almost ready to be delivered to the customer soon.

Interjet ordered 20 SSJ100 plus 10 options in the 93-seats (34' pitch) configuration. The exclusive and comfortable interior is designed by Italian Company Pininfarina.
The SSJ100 is developed and built by Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company (SCAC), in partnership with Alenia Aermacchi. It incorporates the most modern Western technology and systems together with high standards of comfort available in the 100-seat segment.

Cirrus Aircraft announced that it has achieved a significant milestone in its Vision SF50 personal jet program with the successful first flight of certification aircraft 'C-Zero' (C0). The SF50 is a seven seat, pressurized, single engine jet and the newest airplane in Cirrus' line of composite high performance personal aircraft.
As part of a series of evaluations to meet Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification, the newest airplane in the development program underwent rigorous ground tests before taking off from the Duluth International Airport at approximately 5PM CDT on Monday, March 24th, 2014. Cirrus Aircraft Director of Engineering Flight Test and Chief Test Pilot Mike Stevens flew C0 on a one-hour sortie and reported, "The Vision Jet handled and performed very well and all systems functioned properly, just what you want in a first flight. Congratulations to the entire team on today's accomplishment."
"The first flight of C0 is the latest milestone of many 'firsts' for general aviation at Cirrus," said Dale Klapmeier, CEO and Co-founder, Cirrus Aircraft. "Today's successful test flight marks another significant step toward our goal of elevating the personal flying experience with a clean sheet airplane design. The engineers, technicians, designers and all Cirrus employees that have worked tirelessly on the Vision Jet program are justifiably proud today. In the last 12 months we have made such great progress in all areas of the program and we anticipate fulfilling the first of our 500-plus customer reservations late next year."
The first flight included systems checks of controllability, manoeuvrability and flight envelope testing, and speed performance at an intermediate altitude. This first flight paves the way for future flight performance and systems testing.
C0 is the first of three conforming flight test aircraft for the Vision SF50 program. A conforming vehicle means the airplane is substantially built and inspected to formal aircraft type design. C0 was assembled from production-ready drawings, tooling, and manufacturing processes.
